On 9th June, Lara Mani and Rick Davies presented "Exploring And Evaluating Existential Risks: Process And Outcomes Of An International Participatory Exercise Examining Alternative Biotechnology Futures" at the 14th European Evalutation Society Biennial Conference.
The research adopts the use of a new online participatory research tool ‘ParEvo’ to explore alternative possible futures with experts in the biotechnology field. The narrative-based tool allows participants to share and develop imagined possible futures, including the possible harms and benefits that might be realised by developments in the practice and governance of biological research in the coming years. The process included the evaluation of the alternative futures by the participants and by a wider constituency of stakeholder “observers”.
