We would like to congratulate Dr Ellen Quigley on being promoted to a Senior Research Associate. Dr Quigley has had a substantial impact, has produced groundbreaking research, and has mentored and encouraged other researchers.
The University of Cambridge announced in October 2020 that it aims to divest its £3.5 billion Cambridge University Endowment Fund – one of the biggest of its kind in Europe – from all direct and indirect investments in fossil fuels by 2030. In conjunction with that decision, the University released a report by Dr Quigley, researcher Emily Bugden and Anthony Odgers, the University’s Chief Financial Officer. Dr Quigley was appointed to work with the CFO in May 2019.
Dr Quigley has also done groundbreaking research on Universal Ownership. One of her papers won a GRASFI Paper Prize for "Potential Impact on Sustainable Finance Practices", while another was "highly commended" by the Thinking Ahead Institute Award for the Most Innovative Investment Paper of 2020. A previous report on Business School Rankings almost immediately led to an announcement by the Financial Times, the world's most influential business school rankings publication, that it would reassess its methodology in order to better reflect the needs of our time.
Ellen is leading a team including Emily Bugden, Akaraseth Puranasamriddhi, Jake Ainscough and Mia Sannapureddy.
